What is the best weather-proof sealer for outdoor furniture?

I have a bench that has worn down to the bare wood and it needs a sealer. Any suggestions ?

a marine varnish is a very good sealer but cost more than say a exterior polyuerethane but worth it , wood preservatives like thompsons waterseal soak into the wood and dont leave a hard sealed finish not to mention soaking into your clothes unless dried for a month or so and then you will still have the splinter problem. Varnish has always been a good old product, just ask a old wise dude and they will tell you how bad the products are these days due to the EPA , another 50 years there probably wont be any good clearcoats available

How to Clean VERY Dirty Antiques?

Help! I just inherited an 8 piece antique Anthes-Baetz Bedroom Suite, dated 1920.

There are some scratches (which are beautiful nuances, and don’t bother me in the least), but all the furniture is extremely dirty.

Before I put it into my little boy’s room (one lucky kid), I need to know what kind of product would SAFELY clean the surface, without damaging or reacting to the varnish, or the bare wood (in places where the varnish and stain have worn off). I know it is varnish, because the paper label on the back of the large dresser states that.

Use Howard Products: Restor-A-Finish Pick the color that closest matches the color of the furniture. Follow directions on the can: very, very easy. Then use either Feed-N-Wax or orange oil (same company) These are the products that antique stores use on old furniture.
